DG Paystub is an independent educational service. It is not Dollar General, is not affiliated with Dollar General Corporation, and cannot access or issue Dollar General employee records.
What Is a DG Paystub?
A DG paystub is a pay statement issued through Dollar General's payroll process. It can show the applicable pay period, earnings, taxes, deductions, net pay, and year-to-date totals. The employer-issued statement—not a recreated document—is the authoritative record of what payroll reported for that period.
Use an Authorized Access Route
Employee systems, vendors, and access instructions can change. Use a portal link supplied through one of these trusted routes:
- a saved employer onboarding or payroll document;
- an authenticated internal employee page;
- your manager or payroll/HR contact; or
- a current official Dollar General policy or communication.
Avoid entering an employee ID, password, Social Security number, or bank details into a link copied from an unofficial blog, ad, message, or search result. Check the domain and certificate before signing in.
If Sign-In Fails
- Use the recovery option shown on the authorized sign-in page.
- Confirm that you are using the correct employee identifier and current portal.
- Ask your manager or the authorized employee support team to confirm your status.
- Do not send passwords, verification codes, full Social Security numbers, or bank credentials by ordinary email.
Dollar General's published 2024 Code of Conduct lists an Employee Response Center among its internal contacts. Because contact details can change, verify the number against the latest official document before calling. See the official Dollar General Code of Conduct PDF.
How to Review the Statement
Identity and Period
Check the worker name or ID, work location if shown, pay-period start and end dates, and pay date. Report an unknown location, period, or identity detail through an authorized payroll channel.
Earnings
Compare regular hours, overtime, bonuses, commissions, leave, and adjustments with schedules, time records, and written policies. If the statement uses an unfamiliar code, ask payroll for the employer's own code definition.
Covered nonexempt employees generally receive at least one and one-half times the regular rate after 40 hours in a workweek under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act. State law or a specific agreement can provide more protection. See the U.S. Department of Labor overtime guidance.
Federal Taxes
Common federal lines include:
- federal income-tax withholding, which depends on taxable wages, pay frequency, Form W-4 information, and the current IRS method;
- Social Security withholding, generally 6.2% up to the annual wage base; and
- Medicare withholding, generally 1.45%, plus additional Medicare withholding when the IRS threshold applies.
For 2026, the Social Security Administration lists a $184,500 contribution and benefit base. See the SSA wage-base table, IRS Topic 751, and IRS Publication 15-T.
Pre-tax benefits, taxable benefits, corrections, and wage-base limits can change the apparent calculation, so a percentage check alone is not proof that a statement is correct.
Benefits and Other Deductions
Depending on eligibility and enrollment, a statement may include health, dental, vision, retirement, life-insurance, garnishment, or other deductions. Dollar General's current careers materials describe benefit categories but state that official plan documents govern and eligibility can vary. See the official Dollar General retail careers page.
Compare each deduction with the current plan document, election, court order, or other underlying record. Ask the authorized plan or payroll contact about unexplained changes.
Net Pay and Year-to-Date Totals
Net pay is generally gross pay minus taxes and other deductions for the period. Reconcile it with the matching deposit or check. Compare year-to-date totals with the prior official statement while accounting for corrections, voids, and off-cycle payments.
When a Figure Looks Wrong
- Preserve the original statement and matching time or deposit records.
- Write down the exact line, period, expected value, and reason for the discrepancy.
- Report it promptly through the employer's authorized channel.
- Ask for a written explanation or corrected employer-issued statement.
- Keep the response and correction with your records.
Do not edit the original statement. A visually polished replacement does not correct the issuer's payroll record.
Keeping Payroll Records
Keep records long enough for your tax, benefits, employment, and dispute needs. Retention rules depend on the record and situation, so no single period fits everyone. The IRS explains different limitation periods in How long should I keep records?, while the Department of Labor explains employer recordkeeping duties in its FLSA recordkeeping fact sheet.
Store copies securely, limit access, and avoid placing unencrypted payroll records in broadly shared cloud folders.
Organizing Separate Side-Gig or Business Income
For a side gig, freelance activity, or your own business, retain genuine invoices, contracts, deposits, accounting records, and tax documents. A DG Paystub personal pay-record preview can organize those truthful figures and supported estimates for review. It does not issue employer records, authenticate income, file payroll taxes, or replace a corrected Dollar General statement.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often does Dollar General pay?
Many store employees report a biweekly schedule, but schedules can depend on role, location, payroll setup, and current policy. Confirm the authoritative pay calendar in your current employee materials or with payroll rather than relying on an unofficial universal date.
Can I access a DG paystub after leaving?
Employee-system access can end or change after separation, and there is no reliable public window that applies to every former employee. Request the record or current access instructions through an authorized former-employee, payroll, or HR channel.
What if my statement has an error?
Preserve the original and supporting records, then report the exact discrepancy promptly through the authorized employer channel. Ask the issuer for a correction rather than modifying the document yourself.
Does Dollar General offer direct deposit?
Direct-deposit availability and enrollment steps should be confirmed in current employee materials or with payroll. Provide bank information only through an authorized process that you independently verified.
Is DG Paystub an official Dollar General portal?
No. DG Paystub is an independent educational service. It cannot retrieve Dollar General payroll records and should not be used in place of an employer-issued statement.
