Income Documentation Guide & Personal Record Preview
Learn which documents can prove income, then create a personal pay-record preview to compare with authentic employer, bank, and tax records.
Proof-of-income requirements depend on the landlord, lender, agency, insurer, school, court, or other recipient. Ask for the current written checklist before sending sensitive documents. A DG Paystub preview can organize figures for comparison, but it does not independently prove income.
Documents a recipient may request
- Employer-issued pay statements or direct employer verification.
- Bank statements that show matching deposits.
- Official Forms W-2 or 1099 and filed tax returns.
- Benefit, pension, unemployment, award, or other payer letters.
- Invoices, contracts, accounting records, and deposit history for self-employment when accepted.
Build and reconcile a personal record
- Enter payer, pay-period, earnings, and deduction details from genuine sources.
- Review gross pay, supported tax estimates, net pay, and year-to-date totals.
- Compare every line and date with the authentic records before relying on it.
What a generated preview cannot do
It cannot contact an employer, authenticate a document, confirm identity or employment, guarantee acceptance, or replace records requested by the recipient. Never submit invented or misleading figures. Protect account numbers, taxpayer identifiers, addresses, and other personal data when sharing legitimate records.
Open the personal-record preview or read how to request a missing pay statement from a previous employer.
