Published by DG Paystub Editorial Team. An independent, IRS-linked checklist for obtaining, reviewing, replacing, or correcting a Dollar General Form W-2 as a current or former employee.

DG Paystub is independent and cannot retrieve, create, file, or correct a Dollar General Form W-2. Use Dollar General's current authorized tax-document process and official IRS guidance.

Start With the Employer's Current Process

Current employees should check the authenticated employee or tax-document route provided by the employer. Former employees should use the current former-employee, payroll, or HR record-request process. Portal access and vendors can change, so do not enter a Social Security number into a tax-document site found only through an ad or unofficial search result.

Confirm that the employer has your current mailing address before tax documents are issued.

Federal Furnishing Deadline

Employers generally must furnish Form W-2 to employees by January 31 following the tax year, subject to the applicable weekend/holiday rule and special situations. Use the current IRS General Instructions for Forms W-2 and W-3 for the exact year.

Mail transit and electronic availability are different from the legal furnishing deadline. This site cannot verify a universal Dollar General portal-posting date.

If the W-2 Has Not Arrived

  1. Check the current authorized electronic-delivery location.
  2. Confirm the mailing address Dollar General has on file.
  3. Request a reissue through the authorized payroll or former-employee channel.
  4. Follow the IRS instructions if the form is still missing near the filing deadline.

The IRS explains the process in Form W-2 missing or incorrect. The IRS may ask you to contact the employer first and can explain Form 4852 when appropriate.

IRS Transcripts

An IRS wage and income transcript can show data reported on information returns for prior years, but recent-year information may be incomplete and a transcript is not always a substitute for the exact form a recipient requests. Start at IRS Get Transcript.

Review Before Filing

Check:

  • name and Social Security number;
  • employer name and EIN;
  • wages, tips, and other compensation;
  • federal, Social Security, and Medicare wages and withholding;
  • state and local lines;
  • retirement-plan and other box indicators; and
  • any corrected-form notation.

Do not assume that the final pay statement's YTD totals will equal every W-2 box. Taxable benefits, pre-tax deductions, third-party sick pay, corrections, and different wage definitions can create legitimate differences.

If a W-2 Is Wrong

Contact the employer and request a corrected Form W-2c when needed. Preserve the original, correction, and correspondence. Do not alter the form yourself or use a generator to recreate it.

IRS instructions for corrections are available on the Forms W-2 and W-3 page.

Protecting Tax Data

  • Use only verified employer and IRS routes.
  • Do not send a full Social Security number or tax form through ordinary email unless the authorized process specifically protects it.
  • Store downloaded forms securely.
  • Treat an unexpected “W-2 reissue” message as possible phishing and contact the employer independently.

Personal Pay Records Are Not Tax Forms

A personal pay-record preview can help reconcile genuine side-business figures, but it does not create or replace Form W-2, W-2c, 1099, a filed return, or an IRS transcript.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a former employee use the same portal forever?

No universal public access period is guaranteed. Use the current authorized record-request process if access has ended.

Can I file using only my final pay statement?

Do not assume so. Follow IRS Topic 154 and Form 4852 instructions when a W-2 is missing. A final statement can differ from W-2 boxes.

Can DG Paystub generate a replacement W-2?

No. Only the employer can issue or correct its Form W-2, and IRS procedures govern missing forms.

What if my address changed?

Update it through the employer's authorized process and ask how the current-year form will be delivered or reissued.

Is this an official Dollar General tax page?

No. DG Paystub is an independent educational service.
